Export Feasibility: will Russian milk become part of the global market?

Back in 2018, Russian President set the goal to increase exports of industrial agriculture produce to $ 45 billion by 2025. Dairy industry has a great export potential: according to the forecasts by the Ministry of Agriculture, exports of dairy products may grow to $ 1 billion by 2025. However, despite the attention and support from the government, exports of dairy products dropped 12% to $ 243.5 million in 2018, which is indicative of numerous problems in the industry. In this regard, it is important to identify key development instruments that help meet the goal set by the Russian president. During the Plenary meeting, representatives of Russian state authorities, industrial associations, businesses and attendees from abroad will discuss a wide range of questions related to dairy exports.

Questions:

  • How do we achieve the dairy exports figures indicated by the Russian President?
  • How can Russian milk survive in the global market?

  • What are the most promising markets for exporting Russian dairy products?
  • What are the key challenges for Russian producers trying to enter the global markets?

On November 26−27, 2019 the House of Moscow Region Government will host the 6th International Agricultural Dairy Forum organized by the Moscow Region Government with the support of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

The Forum is held to identify solutions to the problems of the industry, as well as to present investment projects in the Moscow Region and develop the region’s international ties.

Vadim Khromov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government, emphasized the importance of the upcoming event: "Over the past six years, the Forum has become a key event in the field, where relevant issues related to the dairy market and its further development are discussed annually. This year the focus of the event is on the strategy of the industry development and prospects for exports to foreign markets. Experts and industry leaders will discuss factors impeding the process and find ways to support manufacturers in attaining their goals and objectives.

The 6th International Agricultural Dairy Forum will cover a wide range of issues ranging from industry development strategy and marketing promotion to livestock breeding, state regulation and support of agriculture. Participants in the forum will also discuss prerequisites for exports of Russian dairy products to foreign markets.

The forum will be attended by representatives of Russian authorities, industry associations, dairy manufacturers and processors, and experts from abroad. The participants will also discuss issues related to the development of the agri-industrial complex and dairy product exports, and will be able to share their opinion with their colleagues and regulators, as well as to get expert advice.

Traditionally, the Forum will host an exhibition of specialized companies from Russia and abroad. For the first time, the attendees will be able to try dairy products in a "smart tasting" mode using artificial intelligence to assess participants' emotions and preferences. At the exhibition you will see cutting-edge equipment and will be able to witness technological processes via live broadcasting from an enterprise producing dairy foods.

The 6th International Agricultural Dairy Forum provides for signing contracts and investment agreements. Last year 14 agreements worth seven billion rubles were signed at the event; 3,000 participants from 35 countries took part in the Forum, and more than 30 producers presented their products at the exhibition, among them the OSP Agro Agricultural Holding Company, Mustang Nutrition Technologies and others.
