Half of Government Support for Agricultural Production of Moscow Region Goes Towards Dairy Industry
The Government Program "Agriculture of the Moscow Region" to be implemented until 2020 started in the Moscow Region in 2014.
Among its tasks is providing the population of the region with its own-produced agricultural products and food. Under the program, agricultural producers of the Moscow Region receive diverse support from the state. A significant part of the money goes to the development of the dairy industry in the region. Today, 180 farms located in the Moscow Region, including family-operated farms specialize in milk production. The number of cattle in such farms is more than 85 thous. heads. 40 farms (22%) are included in the State Breeding Register. Breeding livestock in the Moscow Region amount for 37.2 thous heads. By the end of 2017, the productivity of 7 dairy farms in the Moscow Region was more than 9 thous. kg per head. Emelyanovo Company JSC and Kuzminsky SPA(K), these figures exceeded 10 thous. kg per head. Such results would be impossible without the government support from the federal and regional budgets. "Today, the government support for agricultural production of the Moscow Region is more than 6 billion rubles from two budgets, and it tends to increase. This amount consists of 4.5 billion rubles from the regional budget, and 1.7 billion rubles from the federal one", Andrey Razin, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, stated.
According to the Minister, in 2019 the support of agricultural production from the state will grow by almost 1 billion rubles and reach 7.1 billion rubles. At the same time, support for the dairy industry in the Moscow Region will increase. In 2018, 2.3 billion rubles were allocated for that, which is almost 49% of all support for agricultural production in the Moscow Region. In 2019, this amount is going to grow up to 3.9 billion rubles and exceed 55% of all support to the agricultural sector.
"The main part of the government support now goes towards milk production. Though, in order to produce various and high-quality products, the industry needs selection and technological modernization. That is why, a growing number of budget funds go to supporting livestock breeding, purchasing of dairy farm equipment, grants to family-owned livestock farms and cheesemongers, reimbursing of costs for the construction and reconstruction of farms, and improving livestock", Denis Butsaev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow region, said.
The Government support of the dairy industry and its results will be discussed at the 5th International Agro-Industrial Dairy Forum.
